It all started somewhere around 40 years ago, when Danilo was a winemaking student, he met Antonella and especially her father Ilario, a great farmer. At the time Ilario owned just over a hectare of dessert wine near home and, like farmers, sold his wine production in demijohns. Once Danilo finished his studies he started working in a distillery, helping Ilario in the land and in the “winery” in his spare time. It was during those years that a business named “La Contea” - that will later Bele Casel later on - was born. Danilo and Antonella were following an adventure that was far greater than their own dreams: every day, after finishing their daytime jobs, they would go down in the cellar to try and consolidate, day after day, their efforts and sacrifices. The whole family would be busy bottling 200-300 bottles in one day, sticking labels by hand on each bottle. We would deliver on Saturdays to meet personally the few clients we had. The first wine produced was ColFondo, that didn’t need high tech but just great attentions. It was bottled some days after Easter and kept in grandma’s living room to let the secondary fermentation start. The constant growth, always through word of mouth, reached the summit when an American distributor visited the business at the end of 1990 and decided to start a business relationship. Sales grew overseas too, with new distributors. Nowadays more than 60% of the whole production is destined to international markets. December 2013 saw a big news coming, the purchase of the first vineyard hectare in a magical place, Monfumo.
