Nero Carbone is produced in the south of Italy, in Melfi, 500 meters above sea level, where the soil is volcanic, mainly limy and clay. This wine is lava and fire, it is hot like the people from the south of Italy, hot like this difficult but beautiful land.
Grapes are handpicked between end of October and beginning of November. After that, traditional maceration over skins lasts for 10 days in small steel containers at controlled temperature. Finally comes the refinement in steel for 8/10 months and then in bottles for 4 months.
