The project that collects the stories of the people who lived the earthquake of 1976 in Friuli
The earthquake of 1976 marked the history of Friuli.
The Winefathers members were born recently (and some of them was born only years later!), but that terrible moment marked the future of all of us.
Friuli doesn’t forget, Friuli had to start again after an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on the Richter scale that struck the evening of May 6 1976, with additional shocks on 11 and 15 September.
For this reason we have decided to collaborate to the project "Taramot" that wants to bring back the memories of those days, because the direct testimony is more important of the pages of history books. They were indelible traces in the memory of everyone, and everybody has something to tell.
Participate to Taramot project is very easy: you need only to record your story on a smartphone, a brief story of 4 minutes maximum, and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively you can directly post it on taramot.it.
Taramot wants to be a collective storytelling accessible on the website and on Onde Furlane Radio, and at the same time a work of digital art. The voices will furnish the room at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art - House Cavazzini – in Udine, where the masterpieces of Friuli Arts and Monuments Collection are hosted: these are works of contemporary American artists donated as a sign of solidarity to Friulian inhabitants, following the wave of emotion caused by the earthquake. The voices of those who lived the earthquake will be, therefore, a symbolic restitution. A gift reciprocated with another gift.
Taramot is a project that will be presented during Conoscenza in Festa, where The Winefathers will be hosted, a cultural event organized by the University of Udine which will take place on 1, 2 and 3 July in the streets of the town, with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education, the University and Research and the Conference of Italian University Rectors.
You can record and send your story by the end of June to help creating everlasting memories that otherwise will inevitably be lost through time.
What are you waiting for? If you can’t do it, ask your mom, dad, uncles, aunts, grandfathers and grandmothers!
Let's hear the voice of Friuli, Friuli that doesn’t forget.
